Caryl Gibon was born in San Jose, California and grew up in Lafayette. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from OSU and a Master’s Degree from U of O. Her teaching career began in the Los Angeles area before moving to Oregon where she spent 30 years teaching in the Springfield School District. Caryl and her husband, Dave, lived in Eugene before moving permanently to Back Butte Ranch in 2012. They started coming to the ranch in the early 80’s, built a home in 1993 and finally made the move to the Ranch after Dave’s retirement from the forestry industry. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Son Kyle and his wife, Lindsey, and 3 grandchildren live in Beaverton, daughter Bailey and her husband, Art, and 2 grandchildren live in Bend, and stepson Skyler and wife Kristen live in Minnesota. Caryl volunteers on several committees and is involved with several organizations. She enjoys outdoor activities at BBR and the surrounding area.
